Say goodbye to the boring "Intro to the 1920s" slideshow, and instead captivate your students with the glamor, glitz, and mystery of the 1920s with these student-centered stations!
The Stations:
Fashion and Social Life: Students will love this station where they get to visit the archives of Vogue magazine, explore the flapper era, and gain insight into this "rags to riches" period in American history.
The Economy and Prohibition: Students will learn about the economic boom of the 1920s and how prohibition affected society through watching a short video and reading an article from The History Channel and Balance.com. This will give students the context needed for understanding the world of Jay Gatsby.
The Jazz Age Station: Your art and music lovers will LOVE this station where they get to listen to musical pieces from some of the most influential musicians of the time and examine several powerful art pieces from the 1920s. Students will consider how art and music worked together to reflect the roaring '20s.
Technology and Modernization: Automobiles, radio, and new household technologies developed during this time meant daily life was changing rapidly (similar to what we are experiencing now). Your students will be fascinated to learn about what was "new" and innovative during this time through diving into the Sears Roebuck catalog!
